Philadelphia is a great city, but we’ve got some challenges to overcome. We’re the nation’s poorest big city, with 705,000 men, women, and children living in poverty throughout the greater Philadelphia region.

But if there’s one thing we’re known for, it’s rising to a challenge. Something else that’s not a secret? It’s how passionate we are about sports in general, and about our city’s sports teams in particular.

Champions for People in Need

This is the spirit that’s driving our 2018 Independence Blue Cross United Way campaign — Community MVP. We all have the power to be champions, right where we live and work, by supporting the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey to help break the cycle of poverty.

For two weeks, our employees are teaming up to raise money and complete 13 United Way service projects across the region during our Days of Caring through our Blue Crew corporate volunteer program.

My personal philosophy about health and well-being is to have simple goals and stick to them — whether it’s drinking more water, working in a few extra steps each day, or just making time to unplug. When I’m not busy writing creative content for a variety of audiences, my favorite ways to unwind include enjoying local arts and culture, reading a good book, and watching TV cooking shows.
