At Independence Blue Cross, we recognize the important role nurses play in health care and acknowledge their caring, compassion, and excellence. We’re excited to kick off year two of Celebrate Caring to highlight our region’s most outstanding nurses — including those at Independence.

We invite the community to join us in recognizing nurses who have a remarkable impact on those around them. If you know a deserving nurse, we want to hear about it! Submit your nomination today through Friday, April 3 at ibx.com/nurses. Celebrate Caring is open to all types of nurses who work in any health care setting and live in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware.

Winners receive $1,500 donation to nonprofit of their choice

Independence will choose three nurses to celebrate during National Nurses Week, which takes place from May 6 – 12. Winners will be able to designate a $1,500 donation to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of their choice. We’ll also surprise winners with pop-up “thank you” celebrations at work. Independence, together with our local media partners at 6abc and iHeartRadio, will tell their inspiring stories.

Prizes include:

  • A $1,500 donation in their name to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
  • A “thank you” celebration during National Nurses Week
  • Tickets to local sports and music events
  • Gift certificates for a relaxing spa day, and more

Independence will also share the stories of seven inspiring honorees right here on IBX Insights. We encourage everyone to spread the word and follow the campaign at #CelebrateCaring on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

More about Celebrate Caring

In 2019, Celebrate Caring showed the incredible work nurses are doing in the field to support the health and well-being of the community. Our seven honorees and three winners — Kathy Einthoven, Anne DeLuca, and Tyler Greenfield — all had touching stories that represented a variety of roles in nursing. The winners were chosen from 700 nominations across 180 health care settings.

Celebrate Caring also highlights the role of nurses within the company. Independence has nearly 300 nurses serving our members across many departments. Our Registered Nurse Health Coaches are available 24/7 to help members navigate their health care needs and provide care management support. There are many other critical roles for nurses within the company, including policy, informatics, auditing, and precertification.
