Get #FearlessFit with Independence Blue Cross Member Discounts and Savings

A couple enjoys historic buildings from atop bicycles.

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like saving money, do you? As an Independence Blue Cross (Independence) member, save when you take advantage of free or discounted #FearlessFit activities throughout Philadelphia.

Whether you want to go on a family outing, take a staycation in Philadelphia, or treat your sweetheart to date night without breaking the bank, we’ve got you covered!

Here’s how you can enjoy the perks of carrying an Independence member ID card:

Ride Indego Bike Share Around Town

Use discount code IndeFIT to save 20 percent on Indego day and annual passes.

As a casual rider or a daily commuter, riding Indego is a low-impact way to burn off calories. Travel to work or school, and visit places like the Franklin Institute, the Blue Cross RiverRink, the Philadelphia Zoo, and Independence LIVE — without the stress of looking for a parking spot.

Celebrate Science at the Franklin Institute

Independence is the lead sponsor of the Franklin Institute’s Science After Hours program, which features fun, interactive activities that support the theme of lifelong learning (for the 21+ crowd). Not only that, Independence members can take advantage of $3 off a general admission ticket to the Franklin Institute on member discount day on Saturday, September 21.

Skate and Play at the Blue Cross River Rink

Present your Independence member ID card to skate for free (skate rental not included) at the Blue Cross RiverRink. Indego passholders also get $2 off skating admission at the RiverRink.

In addition to roller skating during Summerfest, you can play mini-golf and cool off with a ride on the Ferris Wheel and the carousel. Summerfest closes on Labor Day, but Independence members can ice skate for free when the RiverRink Winterfest opens in late fall!

Walk on the Wild Side at the Philadelphia Zoo

Use discount code IBX19 to save 15 percent on a seasonal membership to the Philadelphia Zoo. The innovative Zoo360 Animal Trails, including Big Cat Crossing, Meerkat Maze, and Great Ape Trail, let you get up close and personal with the animals.

On the new aerial WildWorks ropes course presented by Independence, test your strength by crossing bridges, balancing on ropes, and climbing through obstacles — all while safely harnessed 34 feet in the air! — then zip line to the bottom of the course.

Get Inspired at Independence LIVE

Present your valid Independence member ID card to participate in weekly fitness, wellness, and healthy cooking classes for free at Independence LIVE.

Drop in during your lunch hour for Interval Training or Mindfulness Meditation or learn a new recipe to make for dinner tonight. Can’t make it during lunch? Plan your own healthy happy hour with a Zumba® class after work.

De-Stress with Yoga on the Race Street Pier

Now through November 12, participate in free morning and evening yoga sessions on Race Street Pier, presented by Independence.

Yoga is one of the best ways to improve your physical and mental well-being. These aren’t your average yoga classes: For one thing, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and the Delaware River Waterfront. Plus, you can get your glow on during special twilight yoga sessions scheduled each month during the full moon.

Here are even more ways to stay active and save as an Independence member:

My personal philosophy about health and well-being is to have simple goals and stick to them — whether it’s drinking more water, working in a few extra steps each day, or just making time to unplug. When I’m not busy writing creative content for a variety of audiences, my favorite ways to unwind include enjoying local arts and culture, reading a good book, and watching TV cooking shows.
