We know that staying healthy means taking care of both your body and mind. And we want to make it as convenient and affordable as possible for our members to get care, right when they need it. That’s why we include free virtual care benefits in our 2022 individual and family health plans.* Members have access to 24/7 virtual care from MDLIVE® for a $0 cost-share.

So, what is virtual care? It’s a broad term for getting care remotely from doctors and other health care professionals. MDLIVE doctors are specially trained to help treat patients over the phone, online, or through video chat.

A Doctor Is Just a Click or Call Away

Skip the waiting room, and use virtual care services from MDLIVE instead! Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, our members have seen the value and convenience of having coverage for virtual care.

Our 2022 individual and family health plans* include $0 virtual care benefits from MDLIVE for telemedicine, telebehavioral health, and teledermatology services. Here’s a little more about each one:

Day or night, you can request a virtual telemedicine visit through MDLIVE. Their network of board-certified doctors (including pediatricians) can treat nonemergency conditions, such as:

  • Sinus infections
  • Pink eye
  • Earaches
  • Flu

Whether you’re home, stuck at work, or traveling within the U.S., you can have a virtual visit, diagnosis, and any needed prescriptions sent to the pharmacy of your choice within minutes.

Telebehavioral Health

Taking care of your mental health is more important than ever. With telebehavioral health from MDLIVE, you can get virtual care from therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists who can help if you feel stressed or overwhelmed, or for conditions such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Panic disorders

Your confidential, virtual care visit can be by video chat or phone from the comfort and privacy of home.

With teledermatology from MDLIVE, you can schedule a virtual visit with a board-certified dermatologist, who can treat more than 3,000 skin, hair, and nail conditions online, including:

  • Cold sores
  • Eczema
  • Insect bites
  • Rashes
  • Suspicious sunspots and moles

It’s Easy to Activate and Use Your MDLIVE Account

When you need to talk to a doctor, you probably want to do it as soon as possible. That’s why we encourage members to set up their MDLIVE account right away — all you need is your member ID number. Create an account for your dependents, too, so you’re ready to talk to a doctor for them.

Then when you need care, simply sign in on your computer or through the MDLIVE app from Google Play or the Apple Store. You can request an appointment for telemedicine, teledermatology, or telebehavioral health after you log in.

*Catastrophic and HSA-qualified plans are excluded from this benefit.
The information above applies to all Independence Blue Cross consumer individual and family health plans, excluding Catastrophic health plans. If you have an Independence Blue Cross health plan through your employer, please check your benefits to verify your coverage and cost-sharing for virtual care services.
MDLIVE is an independent company providing telemedicine, teledermatology, and telebehavioral health services for Independence Blue Cross members.
